DEADLINE: November 1 of each year
POLICY STATEMENT
It is the policy of this organization to support:
- the operating budgets of our member orchestras,
and
- projects undertaken or supported by our members which further the objectives of the SOA.
and
- New initiatives that will see sustained growth which further the objectives of the SOA
REGULATIONS
- Funding is for organizations or groups, not for individuals.
- Organizations or groups should expect to get only partial funding from the SOA for a new initiative- i.e. their budgets
should be made up of fees, the SOA grant and other revenue such as ticket sales, donations and fund-raising activities.
- Funding is NOT retroactive and will not be considered if the initiative has been completed.
- The SOA grant shall not normally cover more than two-thirds of the budget up to a total of $500. For calculating the
2/3 funding of a project, SOA will not consider administrative expenses beyond 25% of the total project budget.
- When changes of scale or scope are made after the initial application has been approved, a new application must be
filed when the changes result in a reduction to the Budget or change in focus. A change of date does not require a
new application, but the SOA Administrator must be informed so that there can be a timely distribution of funds.
- The full amount approved by the SOA Board of Directors for the initiative will be paid out to the group with the
expectation that a full report on the SOA funded initiative be received no later than 90 days after completion. No other
funding will be available to the group until these report forms and required information are received by the
SOA.
- All organizations or groups receiving funding from the SOA must acknowledge this support in their programs, publicity
and wherever else appropriate. The Saskatchewan Orchestral Association Logo, Lottery Logo and
Saskatchewan Arts Board Logo MUST ALL BE DISPLAYED. Receipt of final payment will be dependent upon
fulfilling this requirement.
- Organizations must announce any intentions to apply for other funding through SOA programs in the current fiscal year
or in the following year. Organizations that wish to receive Operating Grants from the SOA must state their intention to
do so on the New Initiative application.
PROCEDURES & DEADLINES
Grant Application Forms are available from the Saskatchewan Orchestral Association:
Box 87
Hanley, Saskatchewan
Canada S0G 2E0
Initiatives received not later than November 1 of the current year (e.g. November 1, 2002, for calendar year 2003 or the 2003/2004season)
will be included in the budgeting process and therefore receive priority for the coming fiscal year. This is to accommodate the lead-time
required to prepare SOA's budget submission.
Applications for funds for New Initiatives may be made at any time during the year. Successful applications will depend on the number of
applicants in the fiscal year and budget restraints. These applications will be reviewed by the board at quarterly meetings.
All requests must be submitted in time to be reviewed before the start of the project. (Please note that the SOA Board meets 4 times a year,
generally in January, March, August and November.)
